 Fa Izaho mahalala ny hevitra iheverako anareo, hoy Jehovah, dia hevitra hahatonga fiadanana, fa tsy loza, mba hanome anareo fanantenana ny amin'ny farany. Jeremia 29:11

Tantara iray ny tovolahy kely atao hoe Josefa ao amin'ny testamenta taloha no hitarafantsika izany soratra masina izany. Josefa dia zanak'i Jakoba (zafikelin'i Abrahama).

Dieu est fidèle

Appelés à la communion de Son Fils, Jésus-Christ notre Seigneur. 1 Corinthiens 1:9

Dans l'Eglise de Corinthe, il y avait beaucoup de sujets de réprimandes; l'apôtre Paul ne recule pas devant ce devoir, mais il rappelle aussi aux Corinthiens que la base de la vie chrétienne, c'est la fidélité de Dieu, et son but, la vie de communion avec le Seigneur Jésus-Christ. Sans nous en apercevoir, nous pouvons nous éloigner de la simplicité et de la vérité telles qu'elles sont en Jésus-Christ, pour nous faire toutes sortes d'illusions sur nous-mêmes et notre profession chrétienne.

"Appelés à la communion de Jésus-Christ notre Seigneur." Ces paroles nous mettent en face de ce qu'est, en réalité, la vie chrétienne, et nous comprenons à quel point nous nous éloignons de ce modèle. Les Evangiles nous révèlent la vie terrestre de Jésus-Christ, et nous montrent d'emblée notre responsabilité d'être disciples d'un tel Maître. Dieu nous appelle à une marche quotidienne avec le Seigneur, au sein des mêmes circonstances qu'Il a rencontrées en parcourant la Terre sainte. Notre communion avec Son Fils Jésus-Christ nous conduit sur le chemin toujours plus étroit qui aboutit à la croix. Soyons sur nos gardes, car à mesure que notre Seigneur S'approcha du grand sacrifice qui devait être accompli, Ses disciples montrèrent une incompréhension grandissante provenant de la dureté de leur coeur. Nous sommes exposés au même danger.

Où en sommes-nous? Le suivons-nous de loin comme Pierre? Sommes-nous peut-être en train de Le renier? La croix, est-elle remplacée par un zèle superficiel et par une profession extérieure, même biblique, qui nous suffisent? Si oui, nous sommes hors du chemin, nous vivons dans la confusion et nous ne connaissons rien de la communion de Jésus-Christ, notre Seigneur.

Ne reculons pas devant la communion de Ses souffrances; elles nous font connaître la joie parfaite; elles nous ouvrent la gloire et nous donnent accès au trône de la grâce, où notre Seigneur est couronné de gloire et d'honneur. Voilà le secret de la puissance, de la vie abondante, victorieuse et fructueuse. Et Dieu est fidèle, Lui qui nous a appelés à cette communion de Son Fils Jésus-Christ.

Why We Work

Not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart. Ephesians 6:6 

No matter who signs your paycheck, you are really working for God.

In the late 1660s, Sir Christopher Wren was commissioned to re-design St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. According to legend, one day he visited the construction site of this great edifice and was unrecognized by the workers. Wren walked about the site, asking several of the men what they were doing. One worker replied, “I am cutting a piece of stone.” A second worker responded, “I’m earning five shillings two pence a day.” A third, however, had a different perspective: “I am helping Christopher Wren build a magnificent cathedral to the glory of God.” What a contrast in the attitude and motivation of that worker!

Why we do what we do is extremely important, particularly when it comes to our working lives and careers. That’s why Paul challenged the Ephesians to do their work, “not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men” (Eph. 6:6-7).

If we do our work merely to earn a paycheck or satisfy a supervisor, we will fall short of the highest motivation—doing our best as evidence of our devotion to God. So, why do we work? As that laborer told Wren, we work “to the glory of God.”

Be not always wanting
