Raha miantso anao toy izao Andriamanitra, inona no havalinao raha teo amin'ny toeran'i Abrama ianao? Si nous confessons nos péchés,… [Dieu] est fidèle et juste pour nous pardonner nos péchés et nous purifier de toute iniquité. 1 Jean 1. 9

Pureté… Qu'est-ce que ce mot évoque pour nous? La pureté de l'air, de l'eau et des aliments? Le souci de pureté est très présent dans nos esprits à cause des problèmes liés à la pollution et au respect de l'environnement. Il y a aussi une relation évidente entre ce que j'absorbe et ma santé. Si je ne suis pas attentif à ce que je respire, bois ou mange, je peux m'affaiblir et même m'intoxiquer. Tout cela est vrai dans le domaine physique, mais c'est également vrai dans le domaine moral. Ce que je regarde, lis et écoute, influence mes pensées, les élève, ou les salit.

Mais il y a plus encore. La principale source d'impureté est dans mon cœur. “C'est du coeur que viennent mauvaises pensées, meurtres, adultères…, injures: voilà ce qui souille l'homme” (Matthieu 15. 19, 20). C'est ce qui m'empêche d'avoir accès à la présence de Dieu. Comment alors me purifier?

Plusieurs religions soulignent la nécessité de le faire par des pratiques méritoires ou des sacrements. Mais ce n'est pas ce qu'enseigne la Bible. Elle nous dit que nous ne pouvons pas nous purifier nous-mêmes. La purification est l'œuvre de Dieu: “le sang de Jésus Christ son Fils nous purifie de tout péché” (1 Jean 1. 7). Lorsque, par la foi, j'accepte le don de Dieu, il me pardonne et me purifie de toutes mes fautes. Alors il me donne la force de pouvoir me tenir à l'écart, dans ma vie, dans mes pensées, de tout ce qui est incompatible avec la sainteté de Dieu. Il me montre comment vivre les différentes relations humaines dans la pureté, la vérité et l'amour.

Do you know how the clouds are balanced ? Job 37:16

Creation is filled with signs that point to the Creator.

One day many years ago my boys and I were lying on our backs in the yard watching the clouds drift by. “Dad,” one asked, “why do clouds float?” “Well, son,” I began, intending to give him the benefit of my vast knowledge, but then I lapsed into silence. “I don’t know,” I admitted, “but I’ll find out for you.”

The answer, I discovered, is that condensed moisture, descending by gravity, meets warmer temperatures rising from the land. That moisture then changes into vapor and ascends back into the air. That’s a natural explanation for the phenomenon.

But natural explanations are not final answers. Clouds float because God in His wisdom has ordered the natural laws in such a way that they reveal the “wondrous works of Him who is perfect in knowledge” (Job 37:16). Clouds then can be thought of as a symbol—an outward and visible sign of God’s goodness and grace in creation.

So someday when you’re taking some time to see what images you can imagine in the clouds, remember this: The One who made all things beautiful makes the clouds float through the air. He does so to call us to wonder and adoration. The heavens—even the cumulus, stratus, and cirrus clouds—declare the glory of God.
