Dieu parle. Ne l’ignorez pas !

Ces dix-huit sur qui tomba la tour à Siloé, et qu’elle tua, croyez-vous qu’ils étaient plus coupables… Luc 13. 4

Un article de journal relate l’histoire de Sara, une jeune femme de 21 ans. Elle voulait voir le monde et vivre sa vie pleinement.

La veille de l’attentat du 22 mars 2017 à Westminster, elle était exactement à cet endroit. Elle aurait dû être au concert à Manchester le soir d’un autre attentat, le 22 mai 2017, mais en a été empêchée. Le 3 juin 2017, elle est tuée lors de l’attentat de Londres.

Certains diront : “Elle n’a pas eu de chance”. D’autres : “Son destin l’a rattrapée”, ou : “Comment Dieu peut-il laisser faire cela, à elle, si gentille… ?”

Combien de personnes ont connu de près ou de loin une situation semblable ? On échappe de justesse à un accident, mais un autre nous atteint. Pourtant peu nombreux sont ceux qui entendent l’appel de Dieu : la vie peut se terminer à tout moment, et après, chacun devra comparaître devant Dieu. Par ces drames, Dieu nous parle. “Dieu parle une fois, et deux fois – et l’on n’y prend pas garde” (Job 33. 14).

Aujourd’hui, arrête-toi et écoute-le avant qu’il ne soit trop tard ! “Dieu a tant aimé le monde qu’il a donné son Fils unique, afin que quiconque croit en lui ne périsse pas, mais qu’il ait la vie éternelle… Mais celui qui ne croit pas est déjà jugé” (Jean 3. 16, 18).

Le verdict de Dieu ne sera pas lié à la manière dont tu auras vécu, mais au fait d’avoir cru ou non en Jésus son Fils, mort à ta place sous son jugement. Quelle preuve plus grande de son amour pouvait-il donner ?

Ne remets pas à plus tard ! Approche-toi de lui et accepte le pardon que Dieu t’offre.

Giving Out of Love

Your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6:4

Father, thank You for using me to meet the needs of others and for meeting my needs through them. Help me not to seek credit when I give but to do so in a way that gives You the glory.

Today's Scripture & Insight:

Every day, Glen purchases his morning coffee at a nearby drive-through. And every day he also pays for the order of the person in the car behind him, asking the cashier to wish that person a good day. Glen has no connection to them. He’s not aware of their reactions; he simply believes this small gesture is “the least he can do.” On one occasion, however, he learned of the impact of his actions when he read an anonymous letter to the editor of his local newspaper. He discovered that the kindness of his gift on July 18, 2017, caused the person in the car behind him to reconsider their plans to take their own life later that day.

Glen gives daily to the people in the car behind him without receiving credit for it. Only on this single occasion did he get a glimpse of the impact of his small gift. When Jesus says we should “not let [our] left hand know what [our] right hand is doing” (Matthew 6:3), He’s urging us to give—as Glen does—without need for recognition.

When we give out of our love for God, without concern for receiving the praise of others, we can trust that our gifts—large or small—will be used by Him to help meet the needs of those receiving them.
