Elle a vu le Seigneur

(Jésus dit à Marie:) Ne me touche pas, car je ne suis pas encore monté vers mon Père. Mais va vers mes frères et dis-leur: Je monte vers mon Père et votre Père, et vers mon Dieu et votre Dieu. Marie de Magdala vient annoncer aux disciples qu'elle a vu le Seigneur et qu'il lui a dit cela. Jean 20. 17, 18
 

“Marie se tenait près du tombeau, dehors, et pleurait. Tout en pleurant, elle se baissa vers l'intérieur du tombeau, et elle voit deux anges vêtus de blanc, assis, l'un à la tête et l'autre aux pieds, là où le corps de Jésus avait été couché. Ils lui disent:

– Femme, pourquoi pleures-tu? Elle leur dit:

– Parce qu'on a enlevé mon Seigneur, et je ne sais pas où on l'a mis.

Ayant dit cela, elle se retourna et elle voit Jésus qui se tenait là; mais elle ne savait pas que c'était Jésus. Jésus lui dit:

– Femme, pourquoi pleures-tu? Qui cherches-tu?

Elle, pensant que c'était le jardinier, lui dit:

– Seigneur, si c'est toi qui l'as emporté, dis-moi où tu l'as mis, et moi je l'enlèverai. Jésus lui dit:

– Marie!

Elle, se retournant, lui dit en hébreu:

– Rabboni (ce qui veut dire: maître)!”

“Va, dit Jésus, vers mes frères, – Car je monte vers mon Dieu,
Vers mon Père et votre Père, – Vers mon Dieu et votre Dieu”.
Elle porte ce message, – Ce message si beau,
Qui résonne d'âge en âge, – Immuable et nouveau.

Toi qui cherches dans la vie – Un Sauveur vivant et fort,
Pense à la grâce infinie – Du grand vainqueur de la mort.
Que Jésus soit le seul Maître – Et l'ami de ton cœur
Car l'aimer et le connaître – C'est trouver le bonheur!

The Land of Far Distances

Your eyes will see the king in his beauty and view a land that stretches afar. Isaiah 33:17

Fix your eyes on Jesus.

Amy Carmichael (1867–1951) is known for her work of rescuing orphaned girls in India and giving them a new life. In the midst of this exhausting work there were times she called “moments of vision.” In her book Gold by Moonlight, she wrote, “In the midst of a crowded day we are given almost a glimpse of ‘the land of far distances,’ and we stand still, arrested on the road.”

The prophet Isaiah spoke of a time when God’s rebellious people would turn back to Him. “Your eyes will see the king in his beauty and view a land that stretches afar” (Isaiah 33:17). To view this “land of far distances” is to be lifted above the circumstances of the immediate present and to gain an eternal perspective. During difficult times, the Lord enables us to see our lives from His viewpoint and regain hope. “For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; it is he who will save us” (v. 22).

Each day, we can choose to look down in discouragement or lift our eyes to “the land of far distances,” to the Lord who is “our Mighty One” (v. 21).

Amy Carmichael spent more than fifty years in India helping young women in great need. How did she do it? Each day she fixed her eyes on Jesus and placed her life in His care. And so can we.

Lord, today we lift our eyes from the circumstances that discourage us to see You in Your splendor, and find peace.
