Le hasard ou Dieu?

Je te célébrerai de ce que j'ai été fait d'une étrange et admirable manière. Tes œuvres sont merveilleuses, et mon âme le sait très bien. Psaume 139. 14
 

“Ce qui me surprend dans le hasard, c'est son accumulation. J'ai des yeux et ils voient. Sclérotique, choroïde, rétine, cornée, iris, pupille, humeur aqueuse et vitrée, cristallin. Quoi de plus simple? (et de plus compliqué?) J'ai des oreilles pour entendre. Tympan, marteau, enclume, étrier, limaçon. Presque invraisemblable… C'est la foule des hasards, tous allant dans le même sens, qui commence à me tourner la tête.” (Jean d'Ormesson)

Comme le philosophe qui a écrit ces lignes, je ne peux pas penser que le hasard soit la cause de la création. Cela ne satisfait pas ma capacité de compréhension ni ma logique. Non, l'homme n'est pas le résultat du hasard, comme on voudrait nous le faire croire. Mais Dieu ne nous laisse pas dans une impasse.

“L'oreille qui entend et l'œil qui voit, l'Éternel les a faits tous les deux” (Proverbes 20. 12). L'homme a été créé par Dieu à son image. Mais il a dégradé cette image. Il a cédé au diable et s'est éloigné de son Créateur. Et depuis, il cherche un sens à son existence. Mais si nous croyons ce que Dieu nous révèle dans la Bible, nous découvrons ses plans envers l'humanité, qui démontrent son amour. L'histoire de l'homme à travers les âges, l'état de révolte qui est le sien, son besoin d'être réconcilié avec Dieu, le don d'un Sauveur dans la personne de Jésus Christ, le jugement du monde rebelle, tout proche, le désir de Dieu d'habiter avec l'homme… Rien ne provient du hasard, rien ne va au hasard. Dieu a un projet et un but pour le monde, pour vous, pour moi. Mettons notre confiance en lui.

One Name

At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth. Philippians 2:10

Jesus Christ is not valued at all until He is valued above all.  Augustine

Cleopatra, Galileo, Shakespeare, Elvis, Pelé. They are all so well known that they need only one name to be recognized. They have remained prominent in history because of who they were and what they did. But there is another name that stands far above these or any other name!

Before the Son of God was born into this world, the angel told Mary and Joseph to name Him Jesus because “he will save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21), and “he . . . will be called the Son of the Most High” (Luke 1:32). Jesus didn’t come as a celebrity but as a servant who humbled Himself and died on the cross so that anyone who receives Him can be forgiven and freed from the power of sin.

The apostle Paul wrote, “God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9–11).

In our times of greatest joy and our deepest need, the name we cling to is Jesus. He will never leave us, and His love will not fail.

Jesus, You are the name above all names, our Savior and Lord. We lift our praise to You as we celebrate Your presence and power in our lives today.
