Solution pour le Moyen-Orient

Il y a quelques années, le fils d'un cheikh bédouin du sud d'Israël demanda un permis de séjour aux États-Unis. La demande fut d'abord rejetée. Plus tard, un chrétien accompagna le jeune homme pour le recommander au chef du Département de l'immigration. Le responsable posa une série de questions au jeune homme qui décrivit la situation au Néguev, parla de sa famille et de son histoire personnelle. Puis il parla en détail de sa foi. Au grand étonnement du chef du service, il mentionna ce que Christ avait fait pour lui, et ce qu'il représentait pour lui. À la fin, il eut le courage de dire: “Voilà l'histoire de ma vie. Maintenant, pourriez-vous me parler de la vôtre?” Son interlocuteur lui répondit: “Moi aussi je suis un chrétien, né de nouveau”.

Le chef du service était un Juif, qui s'était également converti à Christ. Alors Arabe et Juif se serrèrent la main en tant que frères en Christ! Le jeune homme fit cette remarque: “C'est cela, la véritable solution aux problèmes du Moyen-Orient: croire en Jésus Christ, notre Seigneur vivant! Lui seul peut nous aider”.

Jésus Christ est vraiment le “Prince de paix” (Ésaïe 9. 6). Pour toutes les questions concernant l'avenir, et même l'éternité, le seul espoir valable repose sur lui. Il est “notre espérance” (1 Timothée 1. 1).

The Factory of Sadness

Our hope and peace are found in Jesus.

As a lifelong Cleveland Browns football fan, I grew up knowing my share of disappointment. Despite being one of only four teams to have never appeared in a Super Bowl championship game, the Browns have a loyal fan base that sticks with the team year in and year out. But because the fans usually end up disappointed, many of them now refer to the home stadium as the “Factory of Sadness.”

The broken world we live in can be a “factory of sadness” too. There seems to be an endless supply of heartache and disappointment, whether from our own choices or things beyond our control.
The follower of Christ has hope—not only in the life to come but for this very day.

Yet the follower of Christ has hope—not only in the life to come but for this very day. Jesus said, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Notice that without minimizing the struggles or sadness we may experience, Christ counters them with His promises of peace, joy, and ultimate victory.

Great peace is available in Christ, and it’s more than enough to help us navigate whatever life throws at us.
