La joie de se confier en Dieu

Tous ceux qui se confient en toi se réjouiront, ils chanteront de joie à toujours. Psaume 5. 11

Tu as été mon secours, et à l'ombre de tes ailes je chanterai de joie. Psaume 63. 7

Chers jeunes chrétiens, comment connaître et comment garder cette joie profonde qu'est la joie de la foi? Le Psaume 37 dit: «Fais tes délices de l'Éternel: et il te donnera les demandes de ton cœur» (v. 4). Pour persévérer dans la foi, il faut rechercher chaque jour la présence de Jésus, avoir un dialogue humble, vrai et confiant avec lui. Chercher sa présence, c'est mettre notre confiance en lui, avoir conscience que nous vivons sous son regard. Apprenez à voir comment le Seigneur Jésus agit dans votre vie, découvrez-le au cœur de votre quotidien. Il ne vous abandonnera jamais. Sur la croix, il a donné sa vie par amour pour vous.

Chercher le Seigneur, signifie également recevoir sa Parole, qui est joie pour le cœur. Le prophète Jérémie écrit: «Tes paroles ont été pour moi l'allégresse et la joie de mon cœur» (Jérémie 15. 16). Apprenez à lire et à méditer la Bible, vous y trouverez la réponse aux questions qui habitent votre cœur et votre esprit. La Parole de Dieu nous fait découvrir les merveilles qu'il a accomplies. Elle invite à la louange et à l'adoration, à nous réjouir devant Dieu: «Allons au-devant de lui avec la louange, poussons vers lui des cris de joie en chantant des psaumes!» (Paume 95. 2).

Le chrétien traverse parfois des moments d'épreuve, de souffrance, de tristesse. Mais le Seigneur veut lui faire éprouver, même dans ces moments-là, la joie de son amour. L'apôtre Paul témoignait: “attristés, mais toujours joyeux” (2 Corinthiens 6. 10).

The Well-Watered Life

He shall be like a tree planted by the waters . . . ; its leaf will be green. Jeremiah 17:8

Put your roots down by the river of God’s goodness.

I have a friend who lives on a ranch in the wide-open spaces of Montana. The road to his home is a long trail that winds through the parched and barren landscape of the wilderness. As you drive toward his home, you can’t help but notice the contrasting strip of green trees and vibrant vegetation meandering through the ranch. One of the finest trout rivers in North America cuts through the property, and anything that grows near its banks gets the benefit of an unending source of vital water.

This is the picture Jeremiah paints when he says that those who trust in the Lord are “like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river” (Jer. 17:8). Many may choose the wilting heat and choking drought of life apart from God, but those who trust in God will be vibrant and fruitful. Depending on Him is like putting our roots into the refreshing water of His goodness. We are strengthened with the confidence that His steadfast love for us will never fail.

God will ultimately make all things right. Trusting that He will turn our pain to gain and use suffering to mature us empowers us to become fruit-bearers in a dry and thirsty land.

Lord, thank You for not leaving me alone

in the withering heat of life. I will put the

roots of my trust into the river of Your

unfailing promises and steadfast love!
