Intervention divine

Dieu parle une fois, et deux fois – et l’on n’y prend pas garde. Job 33. 14

Naoto Kan était premier ministre du Japon quand, en mars 2011, suite à un tremblement de terre à Fukushima, se produisit une catastrophe nucléaire. Quelques années plus tard, il commentait cet événement :

“Je crois que Dieu, à ce moment-là, a sauvé le Japon. L’enceinte de confinement du réacteur 2 menaçait d’exploser comme un ballon, parce qu’une soupape de sécurité n’arrivait pas à s’ouvrir. L’explosion aurait projeté au loin des quantités énormes de substances radioactives. Pourtant la pression est retombée par miracle. Personne, jusqu’à maintenant, ne sait comment cela a pu arriver.

Au réacteur 4, les éléments combustibles du bassin de refroidissement menaçaient de se retrouver à l’air libre sans eau pour faire baisser la température, ils auraient alors commencé à fondre ; mais la cloison du bassin voisin s’est déchirée, ce qui a permis à l’eau de passer.”

Dieu montre qu’il est là, intervenant de manière directe ou indirecte, peut-être de façon inexplicable pour les hommes. Il désire toujours leur bien. Il cherche à atteindre leur conscience par de tels événements, afin qu’ils ouvrent leur coeur à sa bonté qui veut les sauver.

Dieu ne veut pas que les hommes soient perdus à cause de leurs péchés. C’est pourquoi il les pousse à faire demi-tour, à se repentir, et à venir à la foi au Seigneur Jésus.

La question est de savoir si je prends au sérieux l’amour de Dieu, ses avertissements, son plan pour me sauver du chemin qui mène à la perdition.

Sharing Your Faith

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9

Loving Jesus, You work through my weaknesses to bring glory to Your Father. Move in my life today, that I might share Your good news of grace.

Today's Scripture & Insight : 2 Corinthians 12:5–10

When author and evangelist Becky Pippert lived in Ireland, she longed to share the good news of Jesus with Heather, who’d done her nails for two years. But Heather hadn’t seemed remotely interested. Feeling unable to start a conversation, Becky prayed before her appointment.

While Heather worked on her nails, Becky flipped through an old magazine and paused at a picture of one of the models. When Heather asked why she was so riveted, Becky told her the photograph was of a close friend who’d years before been a Vogue cover model. Becky shared some of her friend’s story of coming to faith in God, which Heather listened to with rapt attention.

Becky left for a trip, and later when she returned to Ireland, she learned that Heather had moved to a new location. Becky reflected, “I had asked God to provide an opportunity to share the gospel, and He did!”

Becky looked to God for help in her weakness, inspired by the apostle Paul. When Paul was weak and pleaded with God to remove the thorn in his flesh, the Lord said, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). Paul had learned to rely on God in all things—the big and the small.

When we depend on God to help us love those around us, we too will find opportunities to share our faith authentically.
