Je t'enseignerai le chemin

Je t'instruirai, et je t'enseignerai le chemin où tu dois marcher; je te conseillerai, ayant mon œil sur toi. Ne soyez pas comme le cheval, comme le mulet, qui n'ont pas d'intelligence, dont l'ornement est la bride et le mors, pour les refréner quand ils ne veulent pas s'approcher de toi. Psaume 32. 8, 9

Quelle belle promesse: “Je t'instruirai, et je t'enseignerai le chemin…”! Le Seigneur désire nous guider sur le chemin de la vie, quand tout nous semble obscur, mais aussi quand tout nous paraît facile.

Dieu a son regard de bonté sur nous: il nous connaît, nous dirige et nous corrige aussi. Il nous avertit: “Ne soyez pas comme le cheval ou le mulet…” En effet, nous pourrions nous écarter du chemin que Dieu veut nous faire suivre, en nous montrant fougueux comme le cheval, qu'il faut retenir, ou obstinés comme le mulet, qu'il faut faire avancer. Et que d'énergie dépensée parfois pour des choses inutiles! Avec sagesse, Dieu agit alors par des circonstances de vie, qui peuvent être difficiles, “la bride ou le mors”, pour refréner notre précipitation ou faire céder notre entêtement: nous avons tant de peine à lui obéir! Il veut ainsi nous ramener quand nous ne voulons pas nous approcher de lui. Il désire que nous nous tenions près de lui, pour notre bien.

Nous sommes ses enfants, il s'occupe de nous pour nous former, “pour notre profit, afin que nous participions à sa sainteté” (Hébreux 12. 10).

Dieu ne nous oublie pas, il garde “son œil sur nous”. Il est le Maître attentif qui nous enseigne par sa Parole, pour nous conduire selon sa volonté au but qu'il s'est proposé. Lisons la Bible avec attention, et demandons-lui, comme l'auteur du psaume: “Éternel! enseigne-moi ton chemin, et conduis-moi” (Psaume 27. 11).

Privileged Access

You have come . . . to the church of the firstborn. Hebrews 12:22–23

Through prayer, we have instant access to our Father.

Even though it was just a replica, the tabernacle set up in southern Israel was awe-inspiring. Built life-size and as close as possible to the specifications laid out in Exodus 25–27 (without actual gold and acacia wood, of course), it stood tall in the Negev desert.

When our tour group was taken through the “Holy Place” and into the “Most Holy Place” to see the “ark,” some of us actually hesitated. Wasn’t this the holiest place, where only the high priest was allowed to enter? How could we enter it so casually?

Each of us can talk to God any time we want, and hear from Him directly when we read His Word.

I can imagine how fearful the Israelites must have felt as they approached the tent of meeting with their sacrifices each time, knowing that they were coming into the presence of the Almighty God. And the wonder they must have felt, whenever God had a message for them, delivered through Moses.

Today, you and I can come straight to God with confidence, knowing that Jesus’s sacrifice has torn down the barrier between us and God (Heb. 12:22–23). Each of us can talk to God any time we want, and hear from Him directly when we read His Word. We enjoy a direct access that the Israelites could only dream of. May we never take it for granted and cherish this awesome privilege of coming to the Father as His beloved children every day.

Thank You, Father, for this wonderful privilege that Jesus has given us, to be able to come before You knowing we have been forgiven and cleansed by Christ's blood. May we never forget how big a sacrifice it took.
